Studies on the Mchanism of Neutrophilia Induced by ACTH

Abstract
|
|
|
In the present study the author has observed not only the picture of the white blood cells with special emphasis on the pseudoeosinophil and lymphocyte in the blood of rabbits treated with ACTH, but also studied the picture of white-blood cells in the blood of normal or surgically managed rabbits treated with plasma obtained from the ACTH-treated rabbits.; The results and conclusions. Are as follows:
1. The production of neutrophilia inducing plasma factor due to ACTH adminstration and the response of the rabbits to this plasma factor were diminished in the bilaterally adrenalectomized rabbits but no significant change was observed in the rabbits that weresplenectorai7ed or had cervical cord transection.
2. It is suggested that neutiopbilia, as seen in ACTH treated rabbits, is attributable plasma factor produced by ACTH, administration.
